Rudy Giuliani Sells Upper East Side Co-Op for $4.95 Million

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has sold his longtime Upper East Side penthouse at a steep discount following legal battles.

Rudy Giuliani has sold his Upper East Side co-op at 45 East 66th Street on the corner of Madison Avenue, ending a tumultuous chapter involving legal battles and multiple price cuts, Crain’s New York Business reports.

The Price Tag: The three-bedroom, 10,000-square-foot unit sold for $1.55 million less than its original 2023 asking price of $6.5 million. Giuliani had relisted it in March for $5.2 million after briefly pulling it off the market.

Catch Up Quick: The former mayor initially lost the apartment to election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss as part of a $146 million defamation judgment. Freeman and Moss had accused Giuliani of baselessly claiming they tampered with 2020 election results through an unsubstantiated video.

State of Play: Giuliani apparently reached a settlement with Freeman and Moss that allowed him to keep the apartment, though the terms remain unclear, Crain’s notes. He had claimed insufficient cash on hand and filed for bankruptcy protection, which was not granted.

Zoom In: Before the sale, Giuliani paid his third ex-wife Judith $2.5 million to take sole control of the unit as part of their divorce agreement, as detailed by Crain’s explains. Judith’s name had appeared on the deed since at least 2003.

What’s Next: Giuliani will make Florida his full-time residence. The buyer’s identity was not disclosed.
